The system exists. It's beautiful. And it sits.
Every design-led company has one. Typography tokens, colour palettes, component libraries, spacing rules, voice guidelines. Two hundred components in Figma, forty pages of rules nobody reads past page twelve.
It tells your team what to make. It doesn't make anything. That was fine while production was always going to be human anyway — the system's job was to guide people. That assumption is gone, and the systems didn't move with it.
The wall everyone hit
Every team already tried to plug the brand into a model
It went brilliantly at first. The model understood the brief. It reasoned about layout, hierarchy, typography, voice. It structured a campaign, wrote the copy, proposed the visual approach.
Then it went to production. And the story everyone still tells about what happened next is already out of date.
The old wall was rendering. That one is coming down.
For a couple of years the honest answer was that a model could describe a poster but not produce one at spec. Not at 300dpi, not on your grid, not as a print-ready file. Building on that gap now is building on sand. Generation keeps getting better, and the artifacts keep getting realer.

The wall that's still standing
One good artifact is not the problem. Five hundred identical ones is.
Anyone can get a striking poster out of a good model on a good day. Now ask for it again next Tuesday, from a different person, with different copy, at a different size, in three languages — and have it come back on the same grid, in the same typeface, at the same colour values, with the same voice.
That's not a capability problem. It's determinism, spec-compliance and provenance — the difference between a demo and a production pipeline. It's why the demo always looks solved and the rollout never is.
Repeatability is the thing you can't prompt your way to.
Every ungrounded generation is a fresh roll of the dice. Ask twice, get two brands. The variance is small enough to miss on any single piece, and fatal across a quarter of them.

A body for the reasoning
The reasoning layer is solved, and commoditised. What's missing is everything under it, and it comes down to three things.
A format language. Every output type — poster, carousel, social card, motion piece, video frame, print layout, banner — expressed as a parametric component that takes brand tokens and content as inputs. Not a flat image. Not a template file. A structured, animatable, multi-format component that renders to your exact brand at runtime. That's FormatKit.
